Anyone can get a card.

Yes, a valid government-issued ID is required to borrow physical items. This can include a driver’s license, passport or Department of Defense card. (Student cards are assigned through the school.) No ID? Ask staff what other options are available.

You can pick up your new card at the Library when you visit.

Yes, your card will expire. This helps us keep your records up to date. To renew your card call 757-410-7100 or visit your local library.

Library cards are free. In order to continue sharing items with the community, a fee is charged for lost or damaged items. There are overdue fines depending on the account type. Learn more about it here.

Items are due three (3) weeks after checkout. If you’d like to keep an item longer, you may be able to renew twice.

Renew items through "My Account" here. If you need help, please call 757-410-7100 or visit your local library. Items from special collections are not eligible for renewals: Lucky Day Collection, Interlibrary Loan, Hotspots.

Renewals are not available for items on hold for another user.

Look through our catalog to place an item on hold or suggest a new title for the collection. You can also request an item through Interlibrary Loan.
